Fabio started his career as an actor in Brazil with Bando de Teatro Olodum. He also trained as a dancer in Salvador, and at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York and the Conservatoire of Dance in Holland. He completed his dance training at the London Contemporary Dance School.
He also trained in circus and physical performance at the Circus Space in London. Fabio performed with 4D (London Contemporary Dance School), The Millennium Dome Central Show, The Lion King at The Lyceum Theatre and The Birds directed by Kathryn Hunter at the National Theatre in London.
Fabio has worked extensively with street children in Brazil and has developed arts projects with communities in Argentina, Holland, India, Ireland, Lesotho, New Zealand, the Philippines, the USA, and the UK. His work enables young people from diverse backgrounds to collaborate, exchange ideas and think creatively about ways of addressing pertinent contemporary issues. Using a variety of places such as museums, school halls, parks, rivers, disused factors, and theatres, Fabio creates projects which enable participants to think about their environment differently and reinvent their relationship with it.
Fabio is the Creative Co-ordinator of Project Phakama. An arts exchange programme involving arts practitioners and young people which aims to promote a spirit of exchange between artists, educators and young people from different cultural backgrounds. To empower participants to make new art through an exploration of expression and their identities; to harness the philosophy and methodology of participant-centred arts education to liberate creative potential in individuals and their communities. Initiated by London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) in partnership with Sibikwa Theatre, Johannesburg with partners in South Africa, Europe, India and Southern Africa development countries.
