'Shoulder to Shoulder' magazine on WSPU

Shoulder to Shoulder was a six-part series produced by the BBC in 1974 by Verity Lambert telling the story of the Suffragettes. The programme focussed on Lady Constance Lytton shows the moment at which she meets up with Annie Kenney and other suffragettes and is converted to the cause. Lytton was a friend of Mary Neal's as was her brother Lord Neville Lytton.

This special edition magazine also shows a picture of Esther Knowles who was an Espérance girl who went to work for Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence at the age of 14 in the WSPU office.
